AASuP to host 6th African Sustainability Report and SDG awards
The sixth Association of African Sustainability Report and Think Energy SDGs Awards 2025 is scheduled to take place from October 22 to 23, 2025, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
The event aims to drive sustainable development across the continent by recognising and celebrating outstanding efforts toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Under the theme, “A Decade of SDGs in Africa; Resetting our Climate Goals for Agenda 2030,” the conference is organized by the Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASUP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Sustainability at the Office of the President, Ghana.
Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, academia, civil society, and international development agencies, the two-day conference will focus on addressing Africa’s sustainable development challenges and opportunities.
Event Objectives:
1. Evaluate Africa’s SDG Progress: Review the continent’s achievements over the past ten years and pinpoint areas requiring further focus.
2. Showcase Innovative Success Stories: Present examples of impactful solutions and sustainable practices driving change in Africa.
3. Honor Outstanding Contributors: Recognize individuals and organizations making significant impacts toward sustainable development.
The conference will also see to the unveiling and launch of a comprehensive evaluation of Africa’s progress toward the SDGs, providing essential data and insights for policymakers and key stakeholders.
Honor exceptional individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing the SDGs across the continent and inaugurate the School of Sustainability, an initiative in collaboration with Accra Technical University (ATU).
This new institution is designed to train and empower the future leaders of Africa’s sustainability movement.
Speakers expected to grace the conference are the Minister of State, Climate Change and Sustainability, Honorable Issifu Seidu, Former CEO, Ghana Gas Company, Dr Ben K Asante, Chief Executive Officer, Minerals Income Investment Fund, Mrs. Justina Nelson, Professor Elsie Effah Kaufman, Head of School of Engineering, UG and Quiz Mistress for the NSMQ.
President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama will be awarded for the SDGs Global Sustainability Leadership award.
The conference will mark a crucial moment for Africa to reflect on its progress, renew commitments, and accelerate actions toward achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
